How Do I Check If My Florida Real Estate License Is Still Active?

How do you find out whether your Florida real estate license is currently active, inactive, or something else entirely?

The fastest way is through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation website. DBPR maintains a public license lookup tool that gives you real-time status on any Florida real estate license — including your own.

How to check:

Go to myfloridalicense.com and click "Verify a License" at the top of the page. You can search by your name or your license number. Your results will show your current license status, your license type, your expiration date, and the brokerage your license is currently held with — or whether it's currently unaffiliated.

What the status categories mean:

  • Current, Active — your license is in good standing and held with a licensed Florida broker. You are authorized to perform real estate activity, including submitting referrals and earning referral fees.

  • Current, Inactive — your license exists in the DBPR system but is not currently held with a brokerage. You cannot perform any real estate activity or collect a referral fee in this status.

  • Involuntary Inactive — your license was not renewed on time and has lapsed. You have up to two years from the expiration date to reactivate. After two years, it becomes null and void.

  • Null and Void — the license no longer exists. You would need to complete the full licensing process again from scratch to get back into real estate.

What to do if your license isn't active:

If your license shows as inactive and you're within the reactivation window, moving it to a referral brokerage is one of the most straightforward paths back to active status. You'll need to complete any required continuing education and pay your DBPR renewal fee — then your new brokerage can activate your license through the system.

CrossView Referral Realty works with Florida-licensed agents at all stages of this process. If you're not sure what your status means or what your next step is, we're happy to help you figure it out.
