What Happens When You Leave CrossView Referral Realty and Start Working Directly With Clients Again

Can you leave a referral-only brokerage and move into full sales without losing what you've already built?

Yes — and at CrossView Referral Realty, we actually love when that happens. Your license is active while you're with us, but as a referral-only agent, you're connecting clients to other agents rather than working directly with them yourself. If you're feeling the pull to get back in front of buyers and sellers, to be the one in the room closing the deal, we think that's worth celebrating. It means the business is calling you in a new direction. And we're going to make the transition as easy as we possibly can.

Here's exactly what that process looks like.

Moving From Referral-Only to Working Directly With Clients

Transitioning out of a referral-only role and into full sales is straightforward. When you're ready, you simply transfer your Florida real estate license from CrossView to a brokerage where you'll be actively listing, representing buyers, and closing your own deals. There's no penalty, no exit fee, and no complicated process on our end. You let us know, you make the move, and you're off.

We mean it when we say we want to treat agents the way we'd want to be treated. Leaving to pursue something that excites you again isn't a problem — it's a good thing.

What Happens to Your Pending Referrals

Here's where agents have the most questions, and it's a fair one: what happens to the referrals you already submitted while you were with CrossView?

The short answer is — we've got them. Once a referral form is signed and submitted through CrossView Referral Realty, that referral stays under our brokerage for the life of the agreement. Moving your license to a new brokerage doesn't erase the work you already put in.

Let's say you have eight referrals out there, all with signed referral agreements, and you decide to make your move to a full-service sales brokerage. We will continue to follow through on every single one of those referrals right up until each agreement expires. If any of them close during that window, we honor them — fully, the same way we would if you were still with us.

How Your Payout Works After You Leave

This part is important to understand before you make the switch. Once your license is held at a new brokerage, we can no longer pay you directly — Florida law requires us to pay agents whose licenses are active under CrossView. But that doesn't mean you lose your portion.

If a referral closes after your license has moved, we pay your 90% directly to your new broker. What your new broker does with that amount is between you and them — so before you make the switch, it's worth having that conversation upfront. Make sure your new brokerage understands that a referral fee may be coming in on your behalf and that they'll pass it along to you in full.

It's one of those things that's easy to sort out ahead of time and a headache if you don't. So we'll always remind you before you go.

Nothing Changes on Our End

We don't adjust the terms. We don't reduce the referral percentage. We don't deprioritize agreements from agents who've already moved on. The signed referral form is the commitment — and we stand behind it regardless of where your license ends up.

If you had 20 referrals out when you made the switch, we're working all 20 of them. That's just how we operate.

A Brokerage That Doesn't Hold You Hostage

One of the reasons agents join CrossView Referral Realty is because the model is simple and pressure-free. That same philosophy applies on the way out. We're not in the business of making things complicated for agents who are ready for something new. Real estate careers move through seasons, and we respect that.

Maybe you stepped into a referral-only role because you needed a break from the daily grind of showings, listings, and contracts. Maybe life pulled you in a different direction for a while. Maybe you just weren't ready to walk away from your license entirely but weren't ready to be in the thick of it either. CrossView Referral Realty was here for that season. And when the next one calls — when you're ready to be back in the room with your clients — we'll cheer you on and handle the rest.

That's the kind of brokerage we set out to be.

Thinking about making a move — in either direction? We're happy to talk it through. Reach out at crossviewreferralrealty.com or call us at 904-503-0672. No pressure, just a straight conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's the difference between being a referral-only agent and going back into full sales? As a referral-only agent with CrossView Referral Realty, your Florida license is active — you're just not listing properties or representing buyers and sellers directly. When you transition to a full-service brokerage, you take on that hands-on role again, working directly with clients through every step of the transaction.

Q: What happens to my pending referrals if I leave CrossView Referral Realty? Any referral with a signed agreement stays under CrossView for the life of that agreement. We continue to work those referrals and honor them through closing, even after your license has transferred to a new brokerage.

Q: Can CrossView pay me directly after I move my license to another brokerage? Not directly — Florida law requires us to pay agents whose licenses are active under our brokerage. If a referral closes after your move, we pay your 90% portion to your new broker. Before you transfer, make sure your new broker knows to pass that amount along to you in full.

Q: Does CrossView change the referral terms for agents who leave? No. The terms of every signed referral agreement remain exactly the same regardless of where your license moves. We don't adjust splits, deprioritize agreements, or change anything on our end.

Q: Is there a long-term commitment required to stay with CrossView Referral Realty? There's no long-term commitment. CrossView is a referral-only brokerage built on flexibility — agents stay because the model works for them, not because they're locked in. When you're ready for something different, we make the exit just as easy as the entry.
